BNSF Railroad Crossing Closure Notice

The BNSF Railway has notified the Village that the railroad crossing in Trempealeau will be closed beginning Tuesday, May 12 at 7:00 AM for rehabilitation work.

The crossing will remain closed until the work is completed, which is currently expected to occur sometime on Thursday, May 14.

During this closure:
• No vehicle traffic will be allowed across the tracks
• Pedestrian crossing will remain open for foot traffic
• Residents should make necessary plans in advance, as vehicle access across the tracks will not be available

Public Safety:
• Emergency vehicles will be staged on the south side of the tracks
• If needed, BNSF will allow emergency vehicles to cross

Parking enforcement will be relaxed in the following areas:
• 1st Street
• Lower portions of Fremont Street near the crossing
• Public parking areas at the Duck Pond and Sportsman’s Club Park (South Street)

Garbage Collection:
• Hilltopper will not collect garbage on the south side of the tracks on Tuesday
• Collection will resume the following week at the normal time
• Extra garbage that does not fit in carts will be picked up free of charge
